This Anatolian rug was collected from an artisan rug maker in Anatolia, a region in Western Asia that is sometimes called “Asian Turkey”. These rugs are highly sought after for its low pile turkish knot technique, which has been proven to be so durable that it can last hudreds of years when properly cared for. This runner was made using the finest fibres of wool and cotton, and coloured using organic natural dyes obtained from plants, insects and minerals. The traditional design motives are filled with symbols experessing stories surrounding motherhood, liberty, matrimony, spirituality, power and wealth. The shades of red and grey in this runner fade just at the right places striking the perfect artistic balance between contemporary and tradition.
